About the Project
The Northwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility (NWRWRF) is one of a network of such facilities serving Northwest Hillsborough County. The plant is a major source of reclaimed water for irrigation customers in the region. The NWRWRF was constructed by the Hillsborough County Water Department in the early 1990’s to meet the needs of a growth. The facility relieved the treatment loads on both the Dale Mabry and the River Oaks Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plants, which were already in service. The NWRWRF uses a 5-Stage Bardenpho system to remove organic pollutants, solids, and nutrients. The reclaimed water produced by the facility is used as the major source of irrigation water for residential customers and golf courses in the surrounding area. Growth is causing the flows to the facility to approach the 5-million gallon per day (MGD) capacity. The current expansion project will increase the capacity to 10 MGD and will provide other modernization improvements.
The Project Team
The Hillsborough County Water Department chose a team of consulting engineers headed by Greeley and Hansen LLC to plan and design the expansion to the Northwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The project team is planning the expansion project, designing and permitting the facilities, providing services during construction, and providing training and training materials.
